Description
This position is responsible for the prosecution of felonies, misdemeanors, traffic violations, conservation violations, ordinance violations, petitions to revoke, bond hearings, abuse and neglect cases, and juvenile delinquency cases as well as screening these same type of cases for approval of charges, representing the Jo Daviess County government including departments, officials, and employees in their official capacities in civil matters and litigation, and providing legal advice to law enforcement officers about criminal investigations. The Assistant State’s Attorney may also provide legal advice to all department heads and elected office holders of Jo Daviess County Government. Previous experience in the field of criminal law is preferred, but not mandatory. Salary starts at $47 an hour and benefits include an IMRF pension, health insurance, vacation and sick leave.
Requirements
The minimum requirements are as follows: Juris Doctorate degree from an Accredited Law School and Registered Attorney, in good standing, with the Attorney Registration & Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois. Previous experience in the field of criminal law is preferred, but not mandatory.
