The Policemen’s Benevolent Labor Committee is a labor union that represents public employees across Illinois. We are seeking attorney candidates of all experience levels to join our legal staff.

Responsibilities include:

•       Representing members and locals in contract negotiations, contract disputes and discipline issues.
•       Research, drafting and advocacy for labor and municipal law policy and issues.
•       Provide legal counsel and education to clients and members of the community.
•       Participate and advocate for members in arbitrations, administrative law hearings, and civil court.
•       Advocate in all aspects of contract law, including issue spotting, contract enforcement, and drafting and advocating for terms beneficial to our members.
•       Direct lobbying of local government officials concerning issues of importance to our membership.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

•       Must be admitted to the Illinois State bar (or pending for recent graduates and out-of-state attorneys)
•       Excellent organization and time-management skills
•       Demonstrated ability in legal writing and oral advocacy
•       Demonstrated commitment to worker rights and public service
•       Willingness to travel in-state when needed, occasionally out of state for conferences/training (the bulk of the work is able to be accomplished                 remotely/at-home
