Assistant State’s Attorney – Wayne County, Illinois
The Office of the State’s Attorney for Wayne County, Illinois is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant State’s Attorney to join our team.
Position Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and service-minded attorney to gain experience across a broad spectrum of legal practice in a supportive, small-town environment. The Assistant State’s Attorney will handle a diverse caseload, including:
Criminal prosecutions (misdemeanor and felony)
Traffic violations and DUI matters
Juvenile delinquency and abuse/neglect cases
Animal control enforcement
Conservation and wildlife law matters
In addition to courtroom responsibilities, the ASA will assist the State’s Attorney in:
Researching and preparing legal matters for the County Board
Providing legal counsel to county departments and elected officials
This is a hybrid-office position with a flexible weekly schedule. The ASA will need to be in the office on days with court proceedings, but will be able to work from home on off days.

Requirements
Qualifications
Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois
Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills
Willingness to learn, grow, and work independently and as part of a team
Commitment to public service and community-oriented prosecution
